In nine months in El Paso, UTEP track superstar Emmanuel Korir has answered so many questions.
His explosion on the track scene at a world class level was so meteoric, such a sudden rise from unknown freshman to one of the most intriguing prospects on the planet in a matter of weeks, it doesn’t have many parallels. He made his indoor debut with a world’s leading time in the 800 meters, six days later he set a world record in the 600 and track statisticians began scrambling to find his birthdate (he’s 21).
When Korir validated that with an NCAA championship in the indoor 800 he became a major storyline heading to the outdoor season. EL PASO TIMES
