The former Barlow High School star arrived at Hayward Field for Saturday’s Pre Classic shot put competition owning a Rio Olympics gold medal, the Olympic record and a contract with Nike.
He left with a victory after throwing 73 feet, 7 1/4 inches on his fifth throw, easily beating fellow Rio medalists Tom Walsh of New Zealand (71-2 3/4) and Joe Kovacs of the U.S. (70-4 1/4). OREGON LIVE
